Killerbyte: Cat Connor

I received killerbyte for review a few weeks ago.  I had fun time reading it. The story is fast killerbytepaced and has quite a bit of action.

The only thing that I can complain about is that I didn’t get a whole sense of the main  character from the onset. There was a lot of information but it came about after the fact. I think that I would have like to have some of it to start with… but that is a minor gripe.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read and I can recommend it to people that enjoy fast paced thrillers.

Ellie Conway is an FBI agent who works serial crime cases. As a hobby, she runs an internet poetry chat room. When someone tries to kill her, it soon becomes obvious it’s linked to her after-hours pursuits on cyberspace. Matters become complicated when her assailant turns up dead in the trunk of her car. As the chat room’s patrons starts dropping like flies, she realizes there is something far deeper going on than first thought.

Despite an abundance of crime scenes, no evidence can be found to identify a motive or perpetrator. The death toll rises and eventually includes her best friend and her own mother, before a chance remark from twelve years prior surfaces to provide the first real clue, which unravels the killer’s twisted goals.

I found a new series

Recently, I was introduced to the Diane Fallon series and I am loving it. I enjoy the characters and the pace set by the author.

If you enjoy forensic mysteries, I suggest the Diane Fallon series by Beverly Connor.

Ghouls Just Haunt to Have Fun: Victoria Laurie

This is the type of book that you want to read after a hard day, light and entertaining. I *impulse* bought this at the bookstore and I am not sorry, I had a blast with it. I know that I should have gotten it on my Kindle, but I just couldn’t wait.

Things enjoyed: I like all of the characters in this series, seeing them in a different locale was amusing. And I loved seeing them with the other psychics, that was good. I like the direction that this series is going, I hope that the author counties in the GhoulsJustWantToHaveFunsame vein for a while.

Things I didn’t enjoy:  To be honest, not much.

Reason for reading: I have read the others in the series.

Running Hot: Jayne Ann Krentz

RunningHot Running Hot is the latest in the Arcane Society series. A series that I follow and enjoy almost every book. This book is no exception, it’s true to form and quite entertaining. That being said, I do feel that it was a bit rushed in spots. I hope that the next book in the series evolves a bit and takes things in a new direction. The last couple of Arcane Society books have been a bit formula for me. Even if the next few are in the same vein, I’ll still keep reading the series. I really enjoy the world that the author has created and I want to know what happens to the rest of the characters.

Death Perception: Victoria Laurie

I have to say that I loved this installment in the Psychic Eye series. The main character, Abby, grows with each book and I really appreciate it in Death Perception. I also loved the interaction between Abby, her sister and her friend Candace. Reading about Candace’s past gave the character a lot more depth, I hope that that character continues to grow.

I missed the Detroit locale, but I think that Vegas was a nice break for the series. I wonder if the author had as much research into Vegas as she did for Detroit (Royal Oak). When I read the first in the series, all I could think was that the author either lived here for a while or did quite a bit of research.

The Remains of the Dead (Ghost Dusters Mysteries, No. 1): Wendy Roberts

The first book in the Ghost Dusters series was a fun read. the characters were interesting enough that I want to know more about them. After I finished the book I realized that I am looking forward to the next book in the series. The paranormal aspects of the book are not over the top. I really like the profession that they are in, Crime Scene Cleaning Crew is very unusual and it intrigues me.

If you like Victoria Laurie or Shirley Damsgaard’s work there is a good chance that you will enjoy the Ghost Dusters series.
