Dayhunter: Jocelynn Drake

The Dark Days series is a real treat for the UF/Vampire reader. It’s got intrigue and danger with some tension mixed in for fun. I really enjoyed reading the second in the series and am looking forward to more.

If you enjoy vampire books and urban fantasy, give this series a try. I am sure that you will enjoy it.

Things enjoyed: I enjoyed the tension between Mira and Danaus. I think that there is a lot more story in there and I am excited about seeing it unfold.

Things I didn’t enjoy:  Nothing…

Reason for reading: I received this as an ARC from the Author. (Thanks!!)

Description (Amazon)Dayhunter

A new day dawns blood red

A master of fire, Mira is the last hope for the world. For centuries she has secretly enforced the history-altering edicts of the Triad. Now she and her unlikely ally—the human vampire hunter, Danaus—have come to Venice, home of the nightwalker rulers. But there is no safety in the ancient city, for the threat of conflict is in the wind . . . with unholy alliances and earth-shattering betrayals taking hideous form in the shadows.

Banished for eons beyond the world’s boundaries, the malevolent naturi prepare to feed once again upon a vulnerable earth—and treachery is opening wide the portal that will enable their dread re-emergence. The great battle that has always been Mira’s destiny is looming, and she must remain powerful in the face of a shocking revelation: that Danaus, the only creature she dares to trust, is something more than the man he claims to be . . .

Kindle 2

Kindle2 The Kindle version 2 was announced yesterday. I have conflicting thoughts about the newest version of the Kindle. I would love to upgrade, but what would I do with my old version? Would I sell it? How much would I have to get for my 1.0 before I would feel that the difference to 2.0 would be justified? 100$? 200$?

What about a recycling program for the Kindle? Some other hardware vendors have recycling programs that offer an incentive for new purchases, I think that Amazon should consider this option if they plan to offer new versions in this timeframe. If I could get a discount on a new version with the recycling of my old hardware I would be happier about upgrading. It would also fit into the ease of use portion of the Kindle’s marketing hype.

I think that I would feel better if I had more assurance that version 2.0 was better than my 1.0. I love my Kindle, why should I upgrade? There isn’t a price break for current Kindle owners. The video on Amazon’s site of current Kindle owners speaking about 2.0 isn’t really informative about the improvements of 2.0. The owners are waxing poetic about owning a Kindle, and I agree it’s great…. but what about 2.0? what’s different? Yes, it’s thinner and the pages flip faster, but I want to know more about the usability form the owners.

What I really want to know before I commit to 359$ is…. What am I getting that I don’t already have? Do I want it because it’s new and shiny? Just because I am a techno geek? When is version 3.0 slated for launch? What are the features planned for 3.0? A roadmap, if you please…

I have committed to the Kindle technology and I encourage readers to embrace it. But I am not seeing enough for me to lay out another 359$ when I haven’t even made back my original investment in savings (I’m close though).
