Something Wiccan This Way Comes & Wiccan Cool: Traci Hall

Recently, I revived copies of Something Wiccan This Way Comes and Wiccan Cool to review. I had a good time reading more in the Rhiannon Godfrey story that began with Her Wiccan, Wiccan Ways.  I read books 2 and 3 back to back. The stories reminded me of how much chaos is involved in a teenagers life. There were times when I read a passage that all I could do was wince. Because, I can remember when I was that impulsive and irrational (otherwise known as being a teen in the Midwest).  Reading more about the secondary characters was great, and some of the new characters are welcome additions to the lineup. Overall, I enjoyed this series.

If you enjoy Young Adult Paranormals, give Traci Hall’s stories a try.

Description (Amazon)

-Normal- is highly overrated. And as easy to lose as your balance-

A Rhiannon Godfrey story.

At long last, Rhiannon is starting to fit into the ninth grade. She and Jared are starting to flirt again, and school is fine except for the mandatory student community service hours. She’s even learned to bank her psychic powers.

For the most part.

Then there’s Dane, the intriguing, infuriating guy who’s her community service student supervisor. He’s got -angry teen- down to a science. Without even trying, he slips past her emotional shields, challenging her to be the one thing she’s most afraid of-herself.

For Rhee, that’s as scary as the ghost haunting the silo behind Doyle’s ice cream parlor. A ghost that’s somehow connected to the shadows in Dane’s eyes. All she really wants is, for once in her life, to be normal. But for a girl like her, -normal- isn’t just an impossible dream, it can be downright dangerous.

Especially if it means embracing her gifts-and opening her heart.

Cry Mercy: Toni Andrews

CryMercy

This is the third book in the Mercy series and I think it’s as good as the first. With each book the reader is given another layer of insight to the main character, Mercy. The story telling is first rate. I can’t wait for the next in the series.

Description (Amazon)
I just want a normal life…even if I’m not entirely sure I’m human.

My name is Mercy Hollings and I’m a successful hypnotherapist in Balboa, California. The problem is, my good fortune is dependent on a dark secret. I can make people do whatever I want using telepathy, a power I call "the press." And that ability has hurt some people I never wanted to hurt, so I try to keep it under wraps.

I also try to keep people at a distance…at least, I used to. Recently a group of fearless characters broke through my self-imposed walls and became my friends: Sukey, my receptionist-turned-P.I.; Tino, a Chicano gang leader; Hilda, a wealthy society widow; Grant, a retired millionaire—and Sam, my sexy-as-hell ex-boyfriend.

But with friends comes drama. Tino has inadvertently led me into the dark world of gang violence, and Sukey has pushed me into searching for my biological parents, the only people who can finally tell me who—or what—I really am.

Killerbyte: Cat Connor

I received killerbyte for review a few weeks ago.  I had fun time reading it. The story is fast killerbytepaced and has quite a bit of action.

The only thing that I can complain about is that I didn’t get a whole sense of the main  character from the onset. There was a lot of information but it came about after the fact. I think that I would have like to have some of it to start with… but that is a minor gripe.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read and I can recommend it to people that enjoy fast paced thrillers.

Highland Knight: Cindy Miles

HighlandKnightI purchased Highland Knight by Cindy Miles right after I read her MacGowen’s Ghost. I had a great time reading these two  books and I will read more if she writes more stories for the men. This is a light read that is fun and sweet. If you are in the mood for a romance with a bit of paranormal (think Lynn Kurland), you will like Cindy Miles.

Maureen Child: More Than Fiends & A Fiend in Need

I read More than Fiends and A Fiend in Need back to back the other day and I had a great time. Its a lighthearted series that can make fun and have a great time in the process.

I think that the only thing that I can complain about in the series is that the main character refer to her vagina as a hoo-ha. Repeatedly…. The first few times it’s amusing but then it grates on my nerves, there are so many other euphemisms that can be used it you don’t want to say vagina. I recently heard “Lady – Town” and I thought that was cute. But if you are going to say something about a penis and a hoo-ha, why not be consistent and use appropriate terms for both or euphemisms for both?

Despite my rant, I enjoyed the books and I will definitely read the next in the series.

Dogs and Goddesses: Jennifer Crusie, Anne Stuart, Lani Diane Rich

This was a sweet romance that was a very light read. I didn’t enjoy it as much as some of the other Jennifer Cruise books that I have read, but it was an enjoyable light read. Some of the conversation that goes on between the dogs and the the women is very funny.

I’ve been reading, really…

Really, truly…I have been reading, not a lot but still reading. I just got wrapped up in a head cold and feeling seriously icky. So there wasn’t so much posting to go with my reading.

I think that I’ll do a lump post of the books that I have read while sick and then I’ll start doing individual posts again. I sort of feel like I am cheating, but I know if I don’t get it done now I’ll never get these books documented. (Yes, I am that lazy)

Anyway here are the latest books that I have read:

EvilWays Evil Ways: Justin Gustainis
This is the second in the series and it’s well worth the read.
Spiral Hunt  Spiral hunt: Margaret Ronald
This is a great start to a new series. I really enjoyed the book and I am looking forward to the next in the series.
Revelations Revelations – A Blue Bloods Novel: Melissa De La Cruz
I think that I need to re-read the entire series, because I did enjoy this book I think that I would have enjoyed it more. Some of the storyline I forgot, I think that I’ll go back and re-read the entire series
WaitUntilYourVampireGetsHome  Wait Till Your Vampire Gets Home: Michele Bardsley
Light fluffy and fun, that is what I thought about this book. I had a great time with this one.
KissOfFate  Kiss of Fate: Deborah Cooke
Dragon shifters are great, I am enjoying the struggle of the Pyr and the Slayers. Reading about the firestrom of the leader of the Pyr was great. I liked the interaction of the characters.
