The Summoning: Kelly Armstrong

TheSummoning This is a great start to a new series from Kelly Armstrong.  I have to admit, I really like her work and I find this new series up to her usual standards.

If I have to gripe about something, it would be that the novel is too short. Although I understand that some YA titles/categories are based on length (Correct me if I am wrong).

I can’t wait for the next installment in the series, and wonder if the characters in this series will run into any of the other series characters. Probably not, but it would be fun.

Description

My name is Chloe Saunders and my life will never be the same again.

All I wanted was to make friends, meet boys, and keep on being ordinary. I don’t even know what that means anymore. It all started on the day that I saw my first ghost—and the ghost saw me.

Now there are ghosts everywhere and they won’t leave me alone. To top it all off, I somehow got myself locked up in Lyle House, a “special home” for troubled teens. Yet the home isn’t what it seems. Don’t tell anyone, but I think there might be more to my housemates than meets the eye. The question is, whose side are they on? It’s up to me to figure out the dangerous secrets behind Lyle House . . . before its skeletons come back to haunt me.

I thought that The Summoning was a great book, it left me wanting more in the end. I really can’t wait until the next book. I hope that there is more conflict with Chloe and Derek because it was hilarious in the first one. Kudos to the author, good work.
